Complaints are reports from owners of this model year, not findings about any particular vehicle, and a model that sold in large numbers will collect more of them. They are counted here as filed; nothing is inferred from them.

Recall campaigns 3 of 3

19V0190002019-01-16

AIR BAGS:FRONTAL:DRIVER SIDE:INFLATOR MODULE

If the inflator explodes, sharp metal fragments may strike the driver or other occupants resulting in serious injury or death.

14V2520002014-05-14

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:WIRING

Any of the above failure conditions increases the risk of a crash.

12V4600002012-09-18

POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION:GEAR POSITION INDICATION (PRNDL)

If the tabs were to fracture and separate, the shift lever and the actual position of the transmission gear may not match. The driver would be able to move the shifter to 'PARK' and remove the ignition key, but the transmission gear may not be in 'PARK.' The vehicle may not be able to be restarted and the vehicle could roll away after the driver has exited the vehicle, resulting in a possible crash without prior warning.

This page is about a model, not a car

Two 2010 CHEVROLET MALIBUs can have entirely different histories, and a recall campaign usually covers a build-date window rather than a whole model year — which a VIN does not encode, so only the door-jamb label settles it. Scanning the VIN adds the decode, the crash tests, the fuel economy and the complaints matched to that exact engine, trim and assembly plant.
